Per bottle and across the collection
Value shows up in two places:
- On the bottle, as an estimate with the direction it has moved
- On the home screen, as a collection total with a breakdown by region
That is often enough to change a decision. A bottle bought for thirty is worth knowing about before it gets opened on a Tuesday.
How much to trust the number
These are estimates of market value, not appraisals and not offers. Fine wine trades thinly and prices move with vintage, condition, provenance and format, none of which a photograph can verify.
Read the number as a range and a direction. If you need a figure for insurance or for a sale, get the bottles looked at properly.

Value alongside the rest of the record
Value on its own is a spreadsheet column. It is more useful sitting next to the drinking window and the location.
A bottle that has appreciated and is entering its window is a different decision from one that has appreciated and needs another decade. Cellar shows both on the same card, along with where the bottle is stored.
How the numbers stay current
Estimates refresh as the market moves, so a collection total read today is not the one from a year ago.
The collection view keeps a history, which is the part worth watching. One bottle moving tells you little. The shape of the whole collection over a couple of years tells you more.
