Wine cellar inventory app

A wine cellar inventory app is only useful for as long as it is accurate.

Cellar keeps the count true by making both halves cheap: a bottle goes in with a scan, and comes out with one tap.

Search by name, region or vintage and it tells you what you have and where it is.

Why inventories drift

Collections drift. Every bottle you buy, move, give away or open changes the collection. A spreadsheet only changes when you remember to open it, and opening a bottle is the moment you are least likely to go and update a row.

So the count says three and the rack holds one. Removing a bottle in Cellar costs one tap, which is the only reason it actually gets done.

Every serious wine collection runs into this, and it has nothing to do with how carefully the collection was catalogued to begin with.

What each bottle carries

An entry is more than a name and a number:

  • How many you own, and where each one is stored
  • Estimated market value per bottle and across the collection
  • Critic score and drinking window
  • Your own notes and ratings
  • What you have already drunk, kept separately from what is still on the rack

Starting from a collection you already track

You do not have to enter everything by hand. Cellar imports from CellarTracker, Vivino, a generic CSV or TSV, and Cellarion JSON.

Rack and bin columns are recognised, so bottles land in the right slots rather than in one undifferentiated pile.

If you would rather start clean, scan the next bottle you pick up and let the collection build from there. Two hundred bottles you can search is worth more than two thousand rows you stopped updating.

Where the inventory lives

Your collection is stored on your device. No account is needed to start, and there is nothing to sign up for before the first scan.

Label photos are sent out only to identify the wine, and are not used for anything else. Nothing about your collection is sold.

Cellar is free to download with free scans included. Pro unlocks unlimited scanning and the full collection features, and cancels from your Apple ID settings.
